What is the MySky Roof on My Jeep Renegade? | Indianapolis, IN

One of the most exciting and unique features found on the 2017 Jeep Renegade is the MySky roof, but what is it? Not quite a sunroof, nor exactly like the removable roof on the Jeep Wrangler, the MySky roof is composed of two sound-insulating plastic panels, one in front and one in the rear.

Depending on your trim package, the front panel may act as a power sunroof. With a push of a button, the front roof panel can tilt up at the back to vent, or slide back completely. On all versions of the MySky roof, both front and rear panels are completely removable, providing you with an entirely Jeep open-air experience.

It's easy, too! They can be removed or replaced in under a minute, and weigh less than ten pounds each so the job can be completed by only one person. The roof panels can be stored in the rear in such as way as to leave you with a flat cargo loading floor as well.

How Do I Remove the MySky Panels?

  1. Insert the specialized key (You'll recognize it right away, the handle is shaped like a Jeep grille) into the latch keyhole of the front panel and turn it counter-clockwise, toward the symbol.
  2. The handle will pop free. Push the handle back and up.
  3. Push up on the panel, and it will slide free of the track.
  4. From outside the vehicle, lift the roof panel up and free.
  5. Store the roof panel in the provided padded case.
  6. Repeat the process for the rear roof panel.

How Do I Replace the MySky Panels?

  1. Gently place the rear roof panel back in place, aligning it with the colored guide tab (the rear panel uses a blue tab)
  2. Press the latch handle back down into place until you hear a click.
  3. Push up on the panel in order to verify it has latched correctly.
  4. Repeat the process for the front roof panel (the front panel uses a yellow tab)
